Services
Mental First Aid
Crisis duty offers mental first aid for those who have experienced a traumatic event. This can be the death of a significant other, suicide attempt, accident, fire, robbery, rape or a 'close call' situation.
Mental first aid can be received as soon as during the first hours after the event. Crisis workers come to help the client at the scene of the event or at client’s home. The meeting can also be arranged in the crisis center or at a hospital's reception.
Crisis Discussion (Debriefing)
From two to four days after the crisis a debriefing can be organized for the family, group or community that has been affected by a traumatic event. Professionally guided debriefing can help clients express thoughts and feelings related to the event. Debriefing can help relatives support each other in difficult situations. Crisis workers also tell clients about ways of helping themselves in that specific situation.
Whole family is heeded in crisis work. Special effort is made to make sure that the children and adolescents of the family are also treated. Discussing what has happened in a concrete and open manner, and paying attention to the child's age group is important. After the debriefing, crisis workers decide if there is a need for further support.
